Just so you all know, I happen to be a very tolerant*, albeit cynical individual. If there’s one thing that would make me get all stabby and shooty on someone, this would definitely be it. Considering what this dog, Dasy, meant to Mr. Luttrell, I have to admire his restraint. And I, for one, would certainly not have faulted him if his gun had “accidentally” gone off.

Here in Texas, “he needed killin’” used to be an acceptable legal defense. Asshats like this almost make me miss that time.

*stupidity is not something of which I am tolerant.

Added in edit 4/10/09: Please visit DASYfund to contribute to buy Mr. Luttrell a new service dog, or to donate to a charity of his choosing.

Yeah, I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about the presidential election, but there is one final thing I want to say. For those of you in Harris County, take a moment to vote against C. O. Bradford, who is currently running for District Attorney.

Many of you in and around the Houston area will remember Bradford as the one who greenlit the infamous K-Mart Raid, in which more than 270 law-abding citizens were arrested without probable cause. Lawsuits from this raid have cost the city a lot of money. Bradford was also responsible for the sad state of HPD’s forensic labs, which caused a number of cases to be thrown out due to faulty evidence handling procedures.

Now this incompetent boob wants to be the District Attorney.

Vote NO on Bradford for DA.

On behalf of all Texas from the Gulf Coast region, I would like to thank all those who have contributed to Houston’s recovery from Hurricane Ike.

Today is the first day back at work after Ike finished treating the Texas Gulf Coast region as its own personal Tina. Downtown is open, for the most part. There are still some places that traffic and pedestrians are not allowed to go. The Chase Manhattan building does not look as bad in real life as it did in pictures. (In Edit: I did some walking around yesterday and got to see the *other* side of the building. There were more windows blown out than were intact.)

As for home, we are still without power, as is about 66% of the city. There is no ETA on when the power will be restored.
