Yummy, tasty crow
I am happy to admit that my pessimism regarding the Heller SCOTUS case was a bit off the mark. The Supreme Court issued its ruling today which upholds the right to keep and bear arms as an individual right. So, for lunch today, I will be having a heaping helping of crow.
Ah, the smell of hypocrisy
For the last six years, we’ve endured countless claims of stolen elections and of voter fraud. The vast majority of these claims have been levelled by Democrats who are upset after repeated defeats in elections. One would think that those who are so concerned about “voter fraud” and “stolen elections” would be all for measures [...]
Ohio: No conviction? No problem!
The state of Ohio has just passed legislation that allows prosecutors, the state attorney-general, or even private citizens to put other citizens on the state’s sex offender registry – all without the need for a costly trial. While I think that sex offenders, especially child molesters, are vile creatures, I firmly believe in the right [...]
Judicial Overreach
A 16-year old Virginian boy has been the target of the Mommy State. The young man, who has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, doesn’t wish to undergo chemotherapy to treat his disease, but some overzealous CPS thugs and an anti-liberty judge have decided to force the young man to receive a treatment he does not wish. Normally, I [...]
FMA shot down in the House
The Federal Theocratic We-Control-Your-Life Amendment was shot down in the House, falling short of the 2/3 majority needed to pass in the House. The bill was also shot down in the Senate last week. My opinion about government intervention in personal relationships has been well documented on this blog. I go on the record once [...]
So it begins
Eviction proceedings have begun in New London, CT. To the residents on New London who are having their homes stolen “to promote the common good” (read: “generate tax revenue”), I have these words: Article [II.] A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and [...]
Congressional CYA
I’m not a big fan of the New York Times. The paper’s behavior lately, along with the behavior of many of its alleged “reporters”, has brought its credibility into question. In this case, however, the Times sheds light on our Congresscritters attempting to cover their asses regarding the much-lamented Jefferson raid. Here we have a [...]
Gen. Hayden is Constitutionally illiterate
Hat tip: Nicki via CDP. In fact, since there’s nothing more I can add, I’ll just copy and paste it: Cross posted on JUST CITIZENS. I have serious issues with the possible nomination of Michael Hayden to the head post at the CIA. It’s not because I fear the military having control over a civilian [...]
Gun rights leader needs your help
I got this in an email from Nicki. Folks, most of you know how decent, passionate, intelligent and dynamic Angel Shamaya is. He has committed himself to freedom, and I know of few people who are as dedicated to the cause of freedom as Angel. He is also a personal friend to many of us, [...]
“I don’t care what the laws or the Supreme Court say. WE are NOT going to have people running around, wearing guns…”
Shamelessly stolen from Nicki at The Liberty Zone via Constitution Death Pool. I wish there was something I could add to this, but Nicki pretty much says it all better than I could. Mark Edward Marchiafava did not break the law in Gonzales, La. on January 28, 2006. But nonetheless, he was handcuffed, arrested, and [...]
