The current generation of young people have had several defining moments for which theit time weill be remembered. They are the controversial 2000 election, 9/11, the Columbia’s destruction, the Iraq war.

In my opinion, 9/11 is the true defining moment of this modern age. Never before in American history were civilians so brutally and callously murdered as they were on that day. 2,996 civilians died in the attacks on, and subsequent collapse of, the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

The 2,996 Project is geared toward the honoring the memory of those people lost on 9/11.

For me, of course, the answer would be no.  The last thing I need is a higher sex drive.

Case in point: when the National Guard began to deploy to the disaster area we know as New Orleans, I predicted that it would not be long before liberals started to whine about “President Bush’s unilateral invasion of New Orleans”.  Enter Cindy Sheehan, the official spokesperson of the Left.  Within a couple of hours, she called upon President Bush to pull the troops out of “occupied New Orleans”.

Now we have the fallout from the travesty of justice inflicted upon three young men from North Carolina.  Within minutes of the announcement that the bogus rape charges filed against them were being dropped, it seemed as though every member of the Loony Left with a microphone or keyboard began whining about “white priviledge”.  The liberal cannard has even spouted off with the claim that “they’re white, rich, and priviledged, so they must be guilty of something.”  One prominent liberal has even gone so far as to claim that the three young men should be jailed on principle, as punishment for all the injustices committed by whites in the past.

Is this not the very stuff of racism?

A few years before I was born, a man wiser than I gave an impassioned speech about judging a person on the content of his character, not the color of his skin.  Those words were inspiration for a movement that quite literally changed the nation.  And, for the most part, I think that change has been a positive one.

Unfortunately, a small but very visible and very vocal minority has perverted Dr. King’s dream.  For this select few, equality isn’t enough; the “dream” has become an industry.  A few very public figures, one of whom was a contemporary of Dr. King, have made a very good living for themselves by wagging their fingers at people and screaming “RACIST”.

These same individuals have led the charge for the judicial lynching of the three young men even though there was no proof of guilt.  In fact, one of the Professionaly Offended public figures has offered to pay the accuser’s college tuition, even if her allegations proved to be untrue.  This gives the appearance that the public figure in question was attempting to reward such behavior.

Imagine, if you will, the justifiable cacaphony that would result if some very public person declared that some black person should be jailed simply as punishment for the past crimes of some blacks.  The public figure daring to suggest such a thing would be rightfully censured – at the very least.  One only needs to look at the current Don Imus debacle to see the reaction such a statement would engender.

So why the double standard?

As I see it, racism is racism, regardless of whom it has been directed against, be they white, black, asian, hispanic, or whatever.

The three young men from Duke have been the victims of racism.  The District Attorney responsible for the case fanned the flames of racism against the three defendants in order to advance his own political career.  He was joined by the Professionally Offended who were more than willing to carry water for him, as it meant more public exposure for their anti-equality agenda.

Dr. King’s dream will never live until the silent majority, regardless of ethnicity, take his lesson to heart and shine the proverbial light of truth on those who make an issue of judging the color of one’s skin, and not the content of one’s character.

As someone who has recently lost a family member to cancer, I offer my sympathy and condolences to Cathy’s family and her friends.

My favorite zealot is video blogging.  And, by reading the comments at Hot Air, quite a few members of the zealot crowd endorse what Phelps has to say.

Can’t say I’m surprised.  A large percentage of the zealot crowd openly “condemn” what he says, but then try to pass laws that put the lie to their words.

I don’t care about your political afiliation. You can be Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, et al; we’re all in this together in the stand against those who seek to silence their political opponents.
