One Theocracy Under God
Once again, the theocrats running the state of Texas have tipped their hands to their true agenda. Effective this coming school year, all students are required by law to recite the Texas Pledge of Allegiance with the words “one state under God”. Students who refuse to acknowledge God will face administrative penalties unless the school receives a note, in advance, from the student’s parents.
Texas State Rep. Debbie Riddle (Theocrat – Tomball) was quoted as saying “Personally, I felt like the Texas pledge had a big old hole in it, and it occurred to me, ‘You know what? We need to fix that. Our Texas pledge is perfectly OK like it is with the exception of acknowledging that just as we are one nation under God, we are one state under God as well.”
I, as an agnostic and an intelligent person, do not see the need to make the phrase “one state under God” a requirement, except, perhaps, as a means to salve the fragile ego of the mentally ill religious people running this state right into the ground.

Dear soul,
Claiming to be an agnostic and intelligent, have you read the scriptures?
I was once an agnostic, and was (and am) honest. I would not become a Christian until three (3) things were proven to me, even that God exists, that evolution is a fallacy, and that the Bible is credible. When they were proven to me to my satisfaction, and after I heard the gospel, I became a Christian.
Regarding your article, if you don’t have the time to read the scriptures, you might consider one chapter of them, even Deuteronomy 28.
Thanks for considering.
Edward,
Thank you for your comment. To answer your question, yes, I *have* read the scriptures, and I have found them lacking in many ways.
Respectfully, I’ll see your Deuteronomy 28 and raise you Leviticus 20:13:
13 If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
The Bible and MANY preachers I have known in my life have made it abundantly clear that I am not welcome at church, or even on this world. As one pastor so eloquently put it “The Salvation of Christ is not open to fags.” This is a sentiment I’ve heard echoed hundreds of times throughout my nearly 40 years on this world.
The typical comeback is that Jesus abolished that code. This represents a gross misunderstanding of Jesus’ views. Jesus himself said in Matthew 5:17-18
17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
In other words, Jesus made it quite plain that if you didn’t follow the old laws, he was going to deny you entry into heaven. I think this puts the absurdity of infinite forgiveness and the “Jesus is love” meme to rest.
