Open letter to Cho Seung-Hui

My self-imposed moratorium against posting on your heinous act has ended, and now it is time to say what I really feel.  It does not bother me that you are no longer alive to read these words.  It does, however, bother me that your actions have caused me to give voice (well, keyboard) to them.

If I could find just two words to describe you, they would be “malignant narcissism”.  I have watched your pathetic little diatribe once and honestly wish I had not wasted my time.  Only in a mind as obviously sick as yours would such an incoherent stream of prattle constitute justification for your horrendous act of cowardice.

You rambled and babbled at length about how much your life sucked and how it was everyone else’s fault.  Guess what, pal; life starts out sucking and only goes downhill from there.  You are in no way special or unique in this regard.

So you were picked on when you were a little brat.  Boo effin’ hoo.  Thousands, if not millions, of children get picked every day, and it has been happening as long as children have been around.  Luckily, the vast majority of them – people like myself – have learned to deal with it and have moved on into the next stage of life.

Then there are those like you, unwilling to learn how to cope with the inherent unfairness of life – people whose only outlet is to make others feel as miserable as they are.  Instead of coming across as some golden-haloed avenger, all you have accompished was making the world see how weak and pathetic you were.

You deserve neither sympathy nor pity, only the scorn and derision you have earned.  You will not go down in history as some great martyr who sacrificed his life in a battle against oppression.  Instead, you will be remembered as a sad and spiteful little brat who never grew up and whose temper tantrum cost the lives of 32 innocent students.
