Justice has not been served…yet

One of the drawbacks of being a day-sleeper is that I routinely fall behind the news cycle.  Granted, I’ll never be able to make a big-time scoop a la Matt Drudge or other big-named journalists, but it would be nice to be able to catch the news around the same time as everyone else.

The news today was actually fairly good…almost.  The gross miscarriage of justice commonly known as the “Duke Rape Case” has almost been resolved by having the charges against the defendants dropped for lack of any evidence whatsoever.  The North Carolina State District Attorney has even gone beyond the usual “charges dropped” rhetoric and has publicly pronounced the accused to be “innocent” and victims of a “tragic rush to accuse and a failure to verify serious allegations.”

That’s good news, right?

Of course it is, but it can most definitely be better.  The rogue persecutor prosecutor, Mike Nifong (D-NC), made the siren call of “racism and white priviledge”, and had the defendants convicted in the court of public opinion before the semen on the accuser’s underwear was even dry – nevermind that the aforementioned semen contained no DNA from the accused.  None.

So why do I feel that justice has not been served, you ask?

Because the accuser, the one who made false claims that have put the three defendants through more than a year of unwarranted hell, is still walking free.  Because the overzealous persecutor prosecutor who fanned the flames of racism in order to get re-elected is still free, is still in office, and has yet to be disbarred.  Because the race-baiting hustlers (Sharpton, Jackson, et al.) have not been held accountable for throwing gasoline on the fires lit by Nifong.

Currently, no criminal charges have been filed against Crystal Gail Mangum, and it looks as though there never will be charges.  Just Google Tawana Brawley (now known as Myriam Muhammed) to see how fraudulent accusers are treated.  You will notice that she is still free, and has never been held accountable for her actions which almost destroyed the lives of those involved in the whole sordid affair.

No one has yet to stand up to the race-baiting hustlers.  Jesse Jackson and his ilk are still in the apparently lucrative business of shaking people down for cash with the threat of going on national TV and proclaiming the target person/organization of being racist.

Mike Nifong, however, is currently under investigation for at least 26 counts of ethics violations, some of which relate to the Duke case.  If found guilty, he will receive a token slap on the wrist, maybe lose his law license for a year or two, and then all will be peachy keen.

So, you tell me.  Has justice truly been served?

In edit:  Hot Air, as always, has the video.
