Mixed feelings
I’m sitting here at work following the election results. So far, the Republicans have lost control of the House, and the Senate is still up for grabs. With one house of Congress in Democratic hands and the other in Republican hands, maybe this will return the government to some semblance of gridlock in which the government can’t keep fucking us over and bring Bush’s drunken sailor spending to a grinding halt.
As much as I’d love to see the Theocrats Republicans lose total control of the government, the thought of a total takeover by the Dems leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.
For my part, I took the Monty Brewster approach and selected “None of the Above”. In other words, my happy ass stayed home.
We’ve often been told to “vote our conscience”; my conscience could not let me vote for any of the clowns parading around in this circus we call an election. I have stated many times that there is no real difference between the two parties. Their disparate platforms may look different at first glance, they are horrendously similar once you get past the sugar coating – both parties want absolute control over your life. For the Republicans. they’re trying to save your soul through legislation. As for the Democrats, well, it is quite obvious they know how to live your life better than you do, so they should be the ones making all your decisions.
Quite frankly, they can all go to hell.
We really need a viable third-party in this country.
