No. Your ex is just a useless waste of oxygen, and not worth the effort it would take to hate her.

Hate is a powerful emotion, but it takes so damn much energy to utilize properly. Usually for me, it's gradual maddening irritation, like a bug bite or an allergic reaction.

Don't feel bad, though....I'd say most intellectuals feel the same sociopathic feelings regarding the ' great unwashed masses '. Quite simply, it's hard to be an aware, enlightened, or educated person amongst a bunch of idiots. Always having to explain your jokes or regurgitate an encyclopedia's worth of backstory to explain some of your thoughts. It's easier if you have patience. But even then some people just won't 'get it'. Sometimes it's their fault, sometimes it's not. Some people are just not developed enough to understand where they're screwing up, some don't care, and some are just too tired or beat down to make the effort.

It's easiest to circumvent or ignore these kinds of people, but depending on your situation this may not be the best. Even though I don't harbor much hope, I usually try to make the effort to gently correct those in error
and accept correction myself where warranted. Even educated people can have incorrect info or come to the wrong conclusion. Sadly, many people...even educated people...don't take this kind of thinking equally from both sides.

And frankly, it's hard. Taking the time to listen. Taking the time to intervene. Taking the time to educate. I've always thought that the more you have, the more you should be able to give, but intellectuals are all too human. You get tired, your temper gets short, and you think, "Come on, even a retarded chimpanzee could figure this out."

Too bad thinking isn't trendy. It was in China back in the old days...of course, then there was that whole Cultural Revolution clusterphuck......
