The Carmax Experience
This weekend, a friend and I went to Carmax to look at replacing my stolen car. We went there for the sole reason being that everyone I know who has done business with them has walked away with a very pleasant customer service experience. Given their reputation, I thought I’d give them the first shot at selling me a car.
As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman named James. After I told him what I was looking for in a car, we went out into the lot and scoped out several vehicles. At no point did he push the sale, or try to convince me that he knew what I wanted better than I did. In fact, all he did was let me peruse the cars on the lot, and when I found one that caught my eye, he’d tell me a little about the car. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant, no-pressure, no-hassle shopping experience. I walked off the lot with a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, with an extended warranty and Lo-Jack anti-theft system for just over $12K. My friend christened the car as the “Vadermobile.”
I’ll post pictures as soon as I get them off my camera.

Bought my new to me car at Carmax as well. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I agree. If I ever need another car, Carmax will be the first place I look.
I should have had you with me. My experience was something akin to a conversation with a carpet-bagger.
