Coming to the end
Over the last 9 months, my sister has been battling a cancer that has been ravaging her body. She’s been through quite the wringer: cancer, surgeries, chemo therapy, radiation therapy, and even a couple of hurricanes just to complicate matters more than they already were.
Over the weekend, the doctor’s informed us that Star had stopped responding to her treatments, and that all possible options had been exhausted. On Monday of this week, after consulting with the entire family, the decision was made to move her into a hospice and to keep her comfortable during her final days.
Those final days have arrived. Earlier today Star asked for our mother’s hand so she could “go away.” My brother PJ and his wife Tammy took Mom to see Star, and Mom told Star “go to sleep if you need to.”
At this time, Star continues to deteriorate and shut down as her end approaches. It’s just a matter of days now.
